Modern human occupation of the Earth has become increasingly disorienting. People remain complicit in harmful habits, influenced by deep rooted systems of convenience and cultural mythologies that work to justify our actions and obscure the consequences. This has created a shared sense of impending disaster related to our unsustainable, ever-hungry ways of living. Through text and image, my work explores relationships between humans, land, natural systems, and other animals within the collective foreboding of a great human event yet to come.

Highly experimental in application and technique, my process focuses on dislocation and the altered image. This removal of place evokes a sense of loss and disconnection from surroundings, understanding, and self. Abstraction detaches subjects from their original context, placing them in a new, familiar-yet-unstable environment. I embrace processes that introduce an element of randomness, such as wet plate collodion, double exposure, thermal printing, databending, and printmaking. My continued fascination with photography has been fueled by alternative ways of seeing and how an unexpected shift in perspective can reveal hidden connections, opening new possibilities for both artist and viewer.
