You Can, You Will is a collection of thermal print collages created in Spring 2026 during a practice group with the Kinship photography collective. The work revolves around embodied experiences of time as they are altered by grief, pain, exhaustion, isolation, and other sources of psychological discomfort. During the time I was creating this work, I was navigating the collapse and separation of a long romantic partnership and adjusting to life in a new city. This project is representative of an artistic thaw and rediscovery of my inner self after a long period of loss, family medical trauma, and emotional instability.
Working with self portraits and images from my daily life, I collaborate with natural forms and motifs. The use of this imagery evokes the inherent sense of aggression and vigor that accompany unpleasant embodied experiences. The compounded presence of layered forms becomes a nonlinear pattern representative of the way this intensity echoes throughout time. The textural nature of these pieces allow us to peer between the lines of conscious thought towards the subconscious experiences within.
